Why Cauliflower Grits Instead Grits on the Optavia Diet?
The Optavia diet does not allow corn. This includes grits which are made from corn. Instead, cauliflower grits is a great substitute. Traditional grits are high in carbohydrates, however, cauliflower grits are low in carbs and low in calories. Optavia restricts carbs so corn or grits is definitely a no-no. Cauliflower is an easy to digest vegetable. It contains vitamins and minerals including folate, vitamin A & C, and is a good source of dietary fiber.
Cauliflower can also improve immune function and lower blood pressure. Although it can be bland when unseasoned, our chef’s add season it well. Once adding the cauliflower grits to food, like our New Orleans Shrimp and Grits, you wont’ even know you’re eating cauliflower.
